At Bumble Bee Nursery we believe instilling dental hygiene early as one of the key practices. That is why, recently we hosted our “Healthy Teeth and Smiles” event we wanted our young students to understand its significance.
Our event was designed to be interactive, engaging and most importantly fun. We understand that visiting the dentist or brushing teeth may feel like an ordeal for young children our goal was to change that perception by turning oral hygiene into an enjoyable adventure. Through hands on activities, expert demos and creative play sessions we introduced students to basic principles of dental health care that resonated with them and captured their attention.
Preschooler Dental Health Is Important
Dental health isn’t only about having beautiful white smiles; it plays an integral part of child development and overall well-being. Healthy teeth assist children to chew food properly, speak clearly and smile confidently yet tooth decay remains one of the most widespread chronic conditions among kids today. At our Day Care in Sharjah we take seriously our responsibility to educate both children and parents alike on preventative measures against decay.
This event focused on main areas to achieve healthier teeth and smiles:
Brushing Techniques: Establishing effective ways of holding and cleaning one’s toothbrush.
Eating Habits: Recognizing food that promote dental health as opposed to those which cause cavities.
Visit to Dentist: Breaking Down Barriers to Dental Visits to Reduce Anxiety.
Brushing Station
Our most beloved activity was undoubtedly The Brushing Station. Here, we used large models of teeth and oversized toothbrushes to demonstrate proper brushing techniques, while children took turns brushing in circular motions so as to reach all areas front, back, chewing surfaces of our “teeth.” It was wonderful watching how eagerly and focused they all were on getting their technique right! It truly inspired many adults too.
The “Good Food vs. Bad Food” Game
Nutrition plays an essential part in Oral Health. To teach this concept, we designed a sorting game using images of apples, carrots, milk, candy soda and chips; their task was to feed their “Happy Tooth” with healthy treats while feeding their “Sad Tooth” with sugary snacks.
They learned that sugary treats might taste delicious but can harm teeth over time crunchy fruits and vegetables act like natural toothbrushes for stronger teeth just watching their debate over whether a banana was one of those “Happy Teeth” was proof enough of how much they had learned.
Meeting the Dentist
One highlight of the event was an appearance by a pediatric dentist, helping demystify what happens at check-up visits for kids. Equipped with puppets and tools to demonstrate what goes on during an exam visit.
This session was instrumental in reducing any fear associated with dental visits, reinforcing our commitment as a comprehensive day care in Sharjah to support children’s emotional and physical well-being.
Creative Arts and Crafts
Bumble Bee Nursery events are never complete without creative arts and crafts! In our art corner, children were free to express themselves. At our “Smile Collages” corner, children created “Smile Collages.” Using magazine pictures of smiles for inspiration and drawing their own self portraits with healthy teeth on them as inspiration, children also made paper toothbrushes as take home reminders from what they learned during the day. Finally, paper toothbrushes served as great reminders that helped brush away paint “cavities.” These creative arts provided wonderful take home reminders from everything that was covered.
Fostering Lifelong Habits
Bumble Bee Nursery’s “Healthy Teeth and Smiles” event was an enormously enjoyable success, filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of smiles.
Early childhood education must promote overall development for every child. By emphasizing practical life skills like dental hygiene and imbuing our students with healthy practices such as these, our goal as one of Best Nursery in Sharjah cares remains consistent creating an atmosphere in which children thrive.
we look forward to hosting events that contribute to the health and happiness of our little bees. Thanks to all the staff, parents, and visiting professionals for making “Healthy Teeth and Smiles Day” an incredible event together we’re keeping smiles bright and healthy.
